Private Residence, Marina Del Rey, CalIfornia
Located in the prestigious Silver Strand enclave of Marina Del Rey, LAS Interiors transformed this once dark and compartmentalized home into a space that is open, airy and full of light, making it an entertainer’s dream home. Major additions to this home include a new kitchen, (2) new bathrooms, (1) Guest Suite, new laundry room and a rooftop deck replete with a kitchen, bathroom, fire pit and TV.
KITCHEN REMODEL
By tearing down a structural post which housed a very dated wall oven, LAS was able to double the size of the kitchen, using an unused kitchen nook on the other side of the column which was used as (unsightly) storage space. An additional 300 sq. ft. of kitchen space suddenly become available for the custom walk-in wine cellar as well as room for a 2nd island.
As well structurally, a large walk-in pantry that separated the kitchen from the dining area was removed to create an open floor plan filled with light between the new kitchen, dining room and living room.
The owner, a wine connoisseur has an impressive collection of Bordeaux wines wanted to have his collection front and center in the new kitchen so LAS interiors needed to find room for this focal point of the kitchen.
Other amenities include:
Miele appliances including a built-in coffee maker, a 36” Thermador Range, Sub-Zero Refrigerator and Freezer Drawers in the island and a Kohler trough bar sink for.
All kitchen cabinetry was imported from Italy through Pedini and Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer drawers were installed in one island for additional cold storage. Part of the original pantry space needed to be sacrificed for the new wine cellar but once the kitchen was finished and ready for entertaining, the owner has no regrets with the decision to downsize the pantry.
